Camp Yagottawanna

Girls camp was the name of the game on Wednesday. We decided on a tribe (Puyallup) which will play a big part in the experience. We went over the rules (No pranks, no 2 piece swimsuits, no shorts or halter tops) and everyone is excited!

Book Of Mormon Easter Activity

I wish I had pictures of this one. The Beehives were in charge of the YM/YW combine activity this month and so we decided to take advantage of the holiday and do something slightly "churchy". Which is always a good choice. First the 2 Beehives read from 3 Nephi 8: 19-23 then we watched the last 20 minutes of the movie the Testament. (the part when the Nephites live through the earthquakes and fires and darkness after Christ was crucified.) After the movie we went into the overflow where I told the youth that they were all Nephites and they were to go through the land (the gym) which had been through a terrible destruction. (chairs and tables were everywhere) and I gave them all bags and a blindfold to symbolize the total darkness. The bags were for the candy which symbolised their family and they were to get on their hands and knees and find them all over the gym. There were also 3 Cabury eggs to represent the God Head out their for them to find. Once all of their families(candy) had been found, they were to go to the high place in the land which was the temple just as the Nephites had went to bountiful to their temple. We all had fun looking for the candy and it was a great way to let them know what the Nephites went through and asked them to think about what it would be like if we really did lose each other and would we work as hard to find them as we did the candy. All in all it felt like a successful activity.

The Beehive class got together and made family home evening Easter egg hunt kits. Each egg has a symbol of Easter And a message to read when the eggs are opened.
